The Bologna’s Apennines are incredibly abundant of Sanctuaries dedicated to the Holy Virgin, incredibly suggestive places, rich of significance, located in a beautiful environment. The journey covers some of the most important points of this path, highlighting the local peculiarities.

Day 1 - ARRIVAL and ACCOMMODATION
Arrival to Bologna, meeting at the airport /train station with our assistant, transfer to the hotel in Bologna’s city centre by private bus. Free time for dinner and to explore the town.
Day 2 - BOLOGNA: SANTA MARIA della VITA and BEATA VERGINE di SAN LUCA
Breakfast in the hotel. We will reach walking the Quadrilatero, market central area of Bologna, for a guided visit to the church of Santa Maria della Vita, where it will be possible to wonder at the Pietà, "Compianto del Cristo Morto", one of the most expressive and intense masterpiece of Italian sculpture. The opera was created in the second half of the XIV century by Niccolò dell'Arca. The path will follow across the town of Bologna, stopping at the most important historic, artistic and cultural points of interest. We will walk the Portico di San Luca, leading to the homonymous Sanctuary, built on the Colle della Guardia (Guard Hill), point of reference for all people from Bologna. Return to the hotel, free time for dinner and wander around.
Day 3 - MONTE delle FORMICHE, the LITTLE LOURDES and MADONNA dei BOSCHI
Breakfast in the hotel. Bus transfer to Santuario Santa Maria di Zena on Monte delle Formiche. In an outstanding landscape, over one of the most fascinating point of Contrafforte Pliocenico, it will be possible to visit the Sanctuary, destination of pilgrimages with interesting historical anecdotes to hear about. Transfer to Campeggio di Monghidoro, where a reconstruction of the Lourdes Cave can be found. Built from 1923 thanks to the help of many volunteers, on will of the local priest Don Augusto Bonafé, pilgrimages passionate, it became a pilgrim’s destination for many believers in a very short time. Not far the Santuario of Madonna dei Boschi is located, on the traditional way connecting Bologna and Florence. The origin of the Sanctuary is related to a terracotta statue of the Lady Virgin of Saint Luca, placed above a pillar in 1626. In 1680 the church was built around that pillar and later it was enriched with several artistic works. Transfer to Monghidoro, dinner in the hotel.
Day 4 - SANTA MARIA of POMPEI, MADONNA della NEVE and MONTOVOLO SANCTUARY
Breakfast in the hotel and transfer to Piamaggio, to visit the Madonna di Pompei Sanctuary and the little Museums of Civiltà Contadina dell’Appenino and Emigrante. Following, displacement to Madonna dei Fornelli, where we will have a break for the lunch, with the chance to visit the Madonna della Neve Sanctuary. In the afternoon, transfer to Serra a Ripoli, to visit the Beata Vergine Sanctuary, built in various phases between 1600 and 1945. In the evening, transfer to Roncobilaccio. Dinner at the hotel and accommodation.
Day 5 - BEATA VERGINE DELLE GRAZIE and BEATA VERGINE DELLA CONSOLAZIONE, from BOCCADIRIO to MONTOVOLO
Breakfast in the hotel. Brief journey to reach the Beata Vergine delle Grazie Sanctuary, in Boccadirio. It will be possible to listen to incredible stories and legends related to the origin of this church, built between XVI and XVIII centuries in a marvellous scenery. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon transfer to Montovolo to visit the marvellous Sanctuary of Beata Vergine della Consolazione. In a charming landscape, we will visit extremely important places, both from religious and historical point of view, especially relate to the Second World War. Return to Bologna in the evening for the return trip.
